How Sprinkler Flow Switches Integrate with Fire Alarm Systems

What Does a Waterflow Switch Do?
When sustained water flow occurs in a sprinkler pipe, the waterflow switch detects the condition and sends a signal to the fire alarm or monitoring system. This allows sprinkler activation to be identified remotely.

- Alarm valve or zone-control assembly
- Waterflow switch

How Is It Tested?
During commissioning or maintenance, controlled water flow is created through the appropriate test-and-drain connection. The arrival of the alarm at the fire panel, the delay time and any associated notifications are then observed. Delay settings and connection logic are adjusted according to the selected equipment and project sequence.
