Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems
Gaseous fire suppression for suitable critical spaces, including system installation, detection interfaces, commissioning, room integrity coordination and maintenance.

Gaseous fire suppression systems can be used in enclosed spaces where water may create undesirable effects on equipment or processes and where rapid, controlled intervention is required. System selection should not be based on the extinguishing-agent name alone. Enclosure volume, fire hazard, occupancy, enclosure integrity, pressure effects, evacuation and re-entry procedures must be considered together.
Typical Applications
- Server and data rooms
- Electrical and control rooms
- UPS rooms and critical technical spaces
- Archives and special storage spaces
- Process or equipment protection
- Suitable special-risk spaces that are normally unoccupied
Critical System-Design Issues
- Selection of an extinguishing agent and system type suitable for the project
- Net enclosure volume and design concentration
- Cylinder arrangement and piping/nozzle design
- Detection and releasing-panel sequence
- Manual release and abort/hold functions
- Pre-discharge warning and evacuation
- Room integrity and hold time
- Need for pressure-relief venting
- HVAC, damper and door interlocks
Room Integrity and Hold Time
For total-flooding systems, maintaining the required extinguishing concentration for the necessary period is critical. Leakage at doors, cable penetrations, raised floors, suspended ceilings and ventilation systems can affect performance. Where required, enclosure integrity can be verified by a room-integrity / door-fan test.
Standards and Design References
Depending on the system, NFPA 2001, ISO 14520, EN 15004 and relevant product listing/approval documentation may apply. The current regulatory and environmental status of the selected agent, as well as product availability, should be verified at the project stage.
Service Area
From Yalova, DEMOFIRE provides gaseous-suppression design support, installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance and service primarily across the Marmara Region, including Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa, and—depending on project scope—in Izmir and throughout Türkiye.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a gaseous suppression system operate without a water supply?
Agent-based total-flooding systems generally operate from dedicated cylinders or cylinder banks. The facility’s other fire protection systems must nevertheless be evaluated separately.
Is enclosure integrity important?
Yes. Enclosure integrity and HVAC control may be critical to maintaining the design concentration for the required hold time.
Must the cylinders be located inside the protected room?
Location is determined by the project, product and safety criteria. An accessible and protected location outside the hazard is generally preferred where the system design permits it.
