Define the Hazard First
Before selecting a local panel suppression system, the enclosure volume, voltage level, ventilation openings, fans, cable/component density and likely ignition sources should be evaluated.
System-Selection Criteria
- Compatibility of the agent with electrical equipment
- Detection method
- Direct or indirect discharge arrangement
- Nozzle and cylinder location
- Ventilation and leakage
- Alarm and, where required, power-isolation sequence
- Maintenance and recharge availability
Maintenance
Cylinder/agent condition, hoses and connections, the detection element and the activation mechanism should all be included in the maintenance plan.
