How to Test Commercial Kitchen Suppression Interlocks
How to verify fuel, power, alarm and ventilation interfaces during commercial kitchen suppression commissioning and maintenance.

Why Are Interlocks Required?
When a commercial-kitchen suppression system operates, it is important not only to discharge the agent but also to place the fuel and energy sources that could continue feeding the fire into a safe state.
Functions to Be Tested
- Automatic detection and activation
- Manual release station
- Gas-fuel shutoff
- De-energisation of electrical cooking appliances identified in the project
- Transmission of a signal to the fire alarm system
- Fan behaviour according to the system/manufacturer sequence
Test Records
For every interlock test, the initiating input and its effect on each connected item of equipment should be recorded and compared with the approved cause-and-effect sequence.
