BESS & Energy Storage Facilities
Fire protection for battery energy storage systems, integrating detection, suppression, cooling, off-gas interfaces, fire-water infrastructure and emergency response.

Fire protection for a BESS project is not simply a matter of placing an extinguishing system inside a container. Cell-to-cell, module and rack propagation, off-gas, deflagration, re-ignition, exposure of adjacent containers, transformer/PCS hazards and fire-service response infrastructure must be evaluated at site scale.
DEMOFIRE Implementation Scope
- F-500 EA® Micelle Mist or another suitable fixed suppression system
- Nozzle, piping and proportioning installation
- Fire-detection and off-gas detection interfaces
- Cause-and-effect, shutdown and alarm integration
- Fire-water storage and pump systems
- Hydrants, monitors and fire-service response infrastructure
- External exposure cooling for containers
- Commissioning, functional testing and maintenance
Service Area
From Yalova, DEMOFIRE provides BESS fire suppression and implementation services primarily in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa and, depending on project scope, in Izmir and throughout Türkiye. A Turkish- and English-language service structure can be provided for energy projects in Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir and other regions of Türkiye.
Is a single suppression system inside the BESS container sufficient?
No. Detection, gas management/deflagration, propagation control, spacing, fire-water strategy and emergency response need to be evaluated together.
Can F-500 EA® be used for BESS?
Where F-500 EA® is considered for a BESS application, system selection should be evaluated against battery/ESS test data, the actual cabinet/container geometry, required discharge duration and the defined protection objectives.
Does a multi-container site require a separate assessment?
Yes. Unit-to-unit exposure, wind, access, block layout and site fire-water demand must be considered separately.
Key Criteria for BESS Fire Suppression Selection
The protection solution should be selected by considering battery chemistry and capacity, rack/cabinet geometry, propagation behaviour, off-gas generation, ventilation/deflagration strategy, exposure of neighbouring units, fire-water requirements and fire-service access. No single extinguishing agent or device can replace all site-scale protection layers.
On the implementation side, DEMOFIRE coordinates suppression, piping/nozzles, detection interfaces, cause-and-effect logic, fire-water systems and commissioning. Technical suitability should be verified against the actual ESS configuration, manufacturer/test evidence and project acceptance criteria.
