Commissioning
Commissioning should verify more than whether devices produce an alarm. Loop/zone addressing, fault conditions, panel text, audible and visual notification, cause-and-effect sequences and the functional interfaces to other monitored fire protection systems must all be tested.

Is an addressable system mandatory in every building?
No. The appropriate system type depends on building size, occupancy, regulations, project criteria and operational requirements.
Is detector quantity determined only by floor area?
No. Ceiling height, geometry, air movement, obstructions and detector technology also have to be considered.
Can the fire alarm panel control other systems?
Yes. Depending on the designed cause-and-effect sequence, the system can interface with smoke control, doors, lifts, suppression systems and other building services.
